Air in Sarajevo Canton moderately polluted

(Patria) - Based on today's measurements by the Institute of Public Health of Sarajevo Canton, conducted at the locations of automatic reference air quality monitoring stations in Sarajevo Canton, the Air Quality Index indicates a moderate air quality status at most monitoring locations.

The Air Quality Index is characterized as moderate at the Vijećnica (Stari Grad), Saraj Polje (Novi Grad), Bjelave (Centar), Otoka (Novi Grad), and Ilidža and Vogošća locations, and as good in the Ilijaš area. Connection with the automatic station is currently not possible at the Hadžići location, and repairs are expected during the day.

According to the weather forecast until the end of the day in Sarajevo Canton, mostly cloudy weather is expected. Maximum daily temperatures will be around 2 degrees Celsius, while light north and northeast wind is expected, with speeds from 1 to 3 m/s.

In accordance with these meteorological conditions, no significant changes in air quality are expected until the end of the day, and minor accumulation of pollutants is possible locally in the evening hours.

The recommendation for sensitive populations (children, pregnant women, the elderly, and chronically ill patients) at locations where the air is indexed as moderate, is to reduce intense outdoor activities, according to the Institute of Public Health of Sarajevo Canton.
