(Patria) - Brazilian actor and comedian Marcelo Adnet, one of the more influential public figures in Brazil, is also known as a fanatical supporter of Bosnia and Herzegovina and an enthusiast of our country.
According to his own account, he came to Bosnia and Herzegovina almost by chance, completely spontaneously, after renting a car during a visit to Croatia and coming to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus falling in love with our homeland.
With much emotion and attention in his appearances on Brazilian media, he recounts the way he was received during his stay, as well as the gathering he had with BH Fanaticos in 2014, when our Dragons participated in a World Cup for the first time. Tonight he was a guest on the show 'Sedam plus' on Hayat TV and at the very beginning, with undiminished emotion, he spoke with great love about Bosnia and Herzegovina, first apologizing for not speaking the Bosnian language well enough.
I am sorry that I still do not speak Bosnian very well. But I really love your country. I love Bosnia with all my heart and it is a pleasure to talk to you at such a special moment. First, I studied the whole story about Bosnia a little, and then I felt in my heart that Bosnians really have a very special story and that they fought for their country, which does not function quite as it should. So, I have that feeling in my heart that this story must be told, so that everyone gets to know Bosnian history because it is so important for all of us.
Then I fell in love with the culture, I fell in love with everything – football, sevdalinka, which I love very much, and I know some by heart. I especially love Safet Isović. Now my five-year-old daughter also loves sevdalinka from Bosnia, but also 'Dubioza kolektiv', which she can listen to all day. I am in love with Bosnia. I have been to Bosnia twice. I have friends in Bosnia. And I wholeheartedly hope that Bosnia will have the freedom it needs, that all people will return to Bosnia, that all Bosnians who love Bosnia and Herzegovina will return, like Alajbegović, Bajraktarević. All those young guys who are now returning to the place they love, to their true homeland..., Adnet emphasizes.
Brazilian actor Adnet speaks emotionally about his relationship with Bosnia and the love he feels, then recalls his first arrival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Mostar:
I first came when I was traveling through Europe, so I was in Dubrovnik, Croatia. When I looked at the map, I saw how close I was. I realized I had to go to Bosnia. So I got in the car and went to Mostar. I had an incredible time there. The people were so special, full of love and affection. They were so excited that I love Bosnia and that I came to Bosnia. I tried to learn the language and sing traditional Bosnian songs to show respect and love for all the love I received. People are so generous, so special. They want you to feel at home. I can't wait to return and spend more time in more cities in the country.
And yes, definitely, to completely master the language. There were many encounters, many people approached me just to ask if I needed anything and to give me a gift. We were also in other places in Europe, people are closed, not very hospitable, but in Bosnia it is quite the opposite. At that time, my then, now ex-wife, and I cried because people were so kind to us. We had the feeling that this people is special. At the same time, the world does not know Bosnia as it should. When the World Cup was held here in Brazil, I knew five guys from BH Fanaticos and we were all over the city. I was at three Bosnia matches, in Rio de Janeiro, Cuiabá and Salvador. I was there, singing all the fan songs because I also love Bosnian fans in the stands. I cheer for Brazil, of course, but Bosnia really touched me. Of course, I feel like a stranger because Bosnia is very different and far from my Brazilian reality. But at the same time, I feel that a part of me belongs to that place, belongs to Bosnia, because I can feel the emotions in sevdah. I feel that I am some kind of Bosnian inside, in my heart, and I am very proud of its culture, its national symbols. Bosnia is a true jewel, a small paradise on Earth and we need to preserve it - the famous Brazilian actor Marcelo Adnet says in one breath.
