Winter paralyses traffic: Black ice, bans and difficult traffic on several routes

(Patria) - Due to low temperatures, we draw attention to black ice, especially on sections in higher areas where there is also trampled snow in places, and in lower areas on bridges, viaducts and tunnel approaches. We appeal to drivers to be cautious and to comply with all traffic regulations. Do not set off on the road without appropriate winter equipment.

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes remains suspended.

Due to winter driving conditions in the Republic of Croatia, a traffic ban is in effect at the Izačić border crossing for trucks with trailers and semi-trailers.

Due to snowfall and landslides on the Plužine-Šćepan Polje main road (Montenegro), traffic is moving with difficulty in one lane and is allowed only for passenger vehicles, while a traffic ban is in effect for trucks. Until weather conditions improve and traffic normalises, drivers are advised to avoid the Hum-Šćepan Polje border crossing.

At border crossings, passenger vehicle traffic is flowing with delays of up to 30 minutes.

Due to passenger registration under the new system for entering and leaving European Union countries (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays are possible at border crossings.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. As of 2 December 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all vehicle categories. At the Šepak border crossing, traffic is banned for all trucks.
