Funds Approved for Completion of Memorial to Martyrs of Željezo Polje

(Patria) - At today's session, the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) approved funds for the third phase of the construction of the memorial at Velika Mahnjača in Željezo Polje, the construction of which has been pending for over 30 years.

- I am especially pleased that this project, which began in 2024, will be completed this year. After I was convinced of the progress of the work, I promised that the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs would once again support the continuation and completion of the work, as was the case in the previous two phases.

In this way, we pay tribute to the fallen martyrs and defenders, and the construction of the memorial represents a moral obligation and a permanent reminder of the heroic defense of the homeland, but also a warning to future generations - said Minister Adnan Sirovica.

The names of 75 martyrs from Željezo Polje, who laid down their lives for the freedom of our homeland, will be inscribed on this memorial.
