Event "Day of Happy Families" held at Skenderija

(Patria) - Organized by the Association of Families with Three or More Children "Families Three Plus", the largest family event "Day of Happy Families" was held today in the Mirza Delibašić Hall of the Skenderija Center.

A large number of parents and children spent time in pleasant socializing, face painting, games without borders, photoshoots, balloons, sweets, while numerous valuable prizes were also provided.



On behalf of the Sarajevo Canton, the event was attended by the Speaker of the KS Assembly Elvedin Okerić and the Minister of Education and Upbringing of KS Naida Hota-Muminović, who were presented with tokens of gratitude for their support of the "Family 3 Plus Card" project and for supporting families with three or more children.

Okerić expressed his honor and satisfaction at the opportunity to attend an event that celebrates life, dedication to parenthood, and the value of large families as the foundation of our society.

- When four years ago, in June 2021, we took the first steps together towards systemic support for large families, during the reception I had with representatives of the "Families Three Plus" Association, it seemed like a bold but necessary step.

That meeting marked the beginning of an idea that gradually, through persistence and concrete policies, grew into real programs and benefits for our citizens. Today, we can proudly say that the Sarajevo Canton has not remained only an idea.

Through financial commitments in the KS budget, i.e., concrete measures, we have shown that families are a priority. In the past four years, budget allocations through various programs and subsidies for family support have increased by over 50 million KM compared to before, which speaks to the real political will and responsibility towards families - said Okerić.



He reminded that in KS, programs have been expanded and payments have been made to tens of thousands of beneficiaries through allowances for mothers, free textbooks, co-financing of kindergartens and extended stays, systemic resolution of the long-standing problem of children with developmental disabilities, as well as the recognition of gifted children in the education system, free public transport for all students, and a number of other programs.

- We continue to strengthen the rights of families in the Sarajevo Canton through access to quality services, healthcare, education, social care, sports, and culture, which is a prerequisite for free decision-making about parenthood.

We will expand cooperation with municipalities and other cantons in order to transfer good practices more quickly - said Okerić, thanking the "Families Three Plus" Association for their tireless work and for encouraging a systemic response and an increase in the natural population growth.
