(Patria) - The Trial Chamber of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo accepted the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton to extend the custody of suspect Bojan Bošnjak, Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection in the Government of Sarajevo Canton, for another two months. According to this decision, custody may last until February 12, 2025, or until another court decision.
"Custody was extended due to the risk that, if released, he could influence witnesses, conceal evidence, or obstruct the criminal proceedings," the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton stated.
Bošnjak was arrested on November 15, and is suspected of abuse of office or authority, namely that he gave a positive opinion on the report on the strategic environmental impact assessment of the SRC Bjelašnica, by which he intended to legalize illegal urban planning projects for construction on Bjelašnica, previously suspected by the Mayor of Trnovo Municipality Ibro Berilo and his assistant Nađa Milišić.
As prosecutor Darko Soldat stated at yesterday's hearing, they expect the findings of the expertise on the seized phones and communications, and within the next 60 days a prosecutorial decision on conducting an investigation should be made, which is why an extension of custody was requested. Mobile phones were seized from Bošnjak, his assistant Adnan Medić, and the Secretary of the Ministry Vildana Smajović.
Soldat stated that there are evident obstructions by the Government of Sarajevo Canton because it did not submit the audio recording and transcript of the session held on May 9, when the disputed Opinion and Strategy were adopted.
