Zornić ahead of protest: Foreigners sit at the table, and we are not there

(Patria) - Ahead of the session of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), which could bring important decisions on the future political course of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a gathering of citizens has been announced for tomorrow in front of the OHR building in Sarajevo.

The protest will be held under the slogan "We are not against the PIC, but ours must be picked!", and the start is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

The organizer of the gathering is the Association of Independent Intellectuals Krug 99, which invites citizens to send a message with their presence to the international actors participating in decision-making on Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The announced gathering comes at a time when a meeting of the PIC Steering Board is expected, where, among other things, the selection of a new High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be discussed.

It is precisely for this reason that the organizers believe it is important to highlight the views of citizens and their expectations from future political processes.

Among those supporting the protests is Azra Zornić, an applicant before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, who believes that citizens must not remain on the sidelines when decisions are made on issues that directly affect the future of the state.

- We are drawing attention to their actions that affect the future of our citizens, we are addressing the members of the PIC Steering Board. We are talking about what kind of BiH we want - says Zornić for Hayat.

She emphasizes that citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina do not have the opportunity to directly participate in the discussions conducted at the international level, which is why she believes that publicly expressing views is particularly important.

- Foreigners sit at the table, and we are not there. That means we are on that table, decisions are being made about our destinies. If we do not send them clear messages about what we want, they will be guided by their own interests and decide the fate of our homeland - adds Zornić.

The organizers state that the gathering is not directed against international institutions, but represents a demand that the voice of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina be taken more seriously when making decisions that determine the political and social future of the country.
