(Patria) - Several fire crews from PVB Sarajevo battled the fire that engulfed the stalls of the Kvadrant market in Otoka. After managing to localize the fire, the process of clearing the stalls began. Significant material damage occurred in the fire.
Damage also occurred to nearby facilities adjacent to the market itself, and glass shattered due to the heat.
The fire broke out around 1 p.m., and fortunately, there are no reports of injured or deceased persons. Immediately next to the market is a hotel, from whose roof the fire was also being extinguished.
The director of KJKP Tržnice-Pijace Jasmin Terović, which manages this market, told the media that the fire engulfed the section where gas cylinders are sold.
Traffic was suspended during the firefighters' operation. Numerous vendors were present, watching their goods and what they had built over the years disappear in the flames.
Numerous stall owners were left with nothing. Due to the wind and rain, the fire quickly spread to other stalls, which mostly contained plastic, textiles, and other easily flammable materials.
Incidentally, this land was previously purchased by a private company, and a court dispute is currently underway. The owner of the land is the company Obnova i gradnja Sarajevo.
