Instructions for employers and workers on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr

(Patria) - On the occasion of the upcoming Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy reminds employers in the Federation of BiH of their legal obligation to allow workers to use their right to absence for the observance of religious holidays.

Eid al-Fitr falls this year on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Although Sunday is a non-working day for most, a significant number of workers, especially in service industries, will work on that day. According to the Law on Labour of the FBiH, workers who observe this holiday have the right to up to four working days of absence, of which two days are paid.

On this occasion, the Federal Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Adnan Delić, also sent an invitation to employers, calling on them to respect workers' rights.

“We call on employers to respect workers' rights and allow workers to use days off to observe Eid al-Fitr. Furthermore, we call on employers to, where possible, adjust work schedules so that workers who do not observe the holiday take over shifts from those who wish to exercise their right to absence. Such an approach contributes to both respecting workers' rights and maintaining business continuity, without additional difficulties and burdens.”

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy emphasizes that respecting workers' rights is a legal obligation, but also an important segment of improving the work environment and relations between employers and workers.

The Ministry extends sincere congratulations to all citizens and workers who observe Eid al-Fitr, with wishes for health, peace, and prosperity.
