Gimnazijada 2025 Begins in Sarajevo: A Meeting of Knowledge, Sport, and Friendship

(Patria) - The traditional event, the 24th Gimnazijada, which brings together students from Sarajevo high schools through competitions in various sports disciplines, was officially opened yesterday, organized by the Public Institution First High School Sarajevo.

Lamija Husić, Assistant Minister for Preschool, Primary, Secondary Education, and Adult Education at the Ministry of Education of Sarajevo Canton, attended the opening.

This year, the largest sports competition for high school students brought together students from 11 Sarajevo high schools.

Gimnazijada was first organized in 1952 with the founding of the Sports Society "Pavle Goranin," and since then, it has been held regularly in various cities, promoting sportsmanship, youth, solidarity, and friendship.

The Ministry of Education of Sarajevo Canton provided support for the organization of Gimnazijada with 25,500 KM, recognizing its importance for students and school communities.

The Ministry emphasizes that Gimnazijada is not just a sports event, but also an opportunity for students to socialize, demonstrate team spirit and healthy competition, and promote the values of togetherness, fair play, and mutual respect.

The competition will last for three days - until November 5th, when the final matches will be played and diplomas and acknowledgments will be awarded.

Organizers emphasize that the goal of the event, besides sports results, is also the promotion of healthy lifestyles and strengthening the sense of belonging to the community of high school students in Sarajevo Canton.

The Ministry of Education of Sarajevo Canton thanks the Public Institution First High School Sarajevo, as well as all partners and sponsors who have supported this important event and contributed to its successful realization.
