Prosecutor's Office of BiH investigating OSA ID card issuance, cannot disclose details yet

(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of BiH is investigating the issuance of ID cards of the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH and at this moment cannot release operational data to the public on how many people have submitted their ID cards to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH by February 5.

"Given that the case is in the investigation phase, we cannot release operational data to the public at this time. Once the activities are concluded and a prosecutorial decision is made, we will be able to provide more details to the public," stated the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for Patria.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milanko Kajganić, sent a call to all citizens regarding the official identification cards of the Intelligence-Security Agency (OSA) of BiH on January 22.

"Given that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, in its work, has come across evidence indicating irregularities in the issuance of official and honorary official identification cards of OSA BiH, all citizens who are not active or retired employees of this agency are invited to report the possession of an identification card to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH no later than February 5, 2024, in order to avoid potential criminal prosecution," it was announced at the time from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

However, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH could not specify how many people have submitted their ID cards or what their status is.

The statement of Denis Stojnić, who had an OSA ID card, appeared in the media, and in his denial, he stated that he had an OSA ID card but never misused it and voluntarily submitted it to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

The Chief Prosecutor's call followed the arrest of the President of the Court of BiH, Ranko Debevec, and the former director of OSA, Osman Mehmedagić, who have been in custody since December. At the last hearing for the extension of custody, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH revealed that Debevec presented himself as an OSA inspector and seized certain video surveillance recordings.
