Situation stabilizing after floods, cleanup to follow

(Patria) - Hundreds of households in Prijedor are still under water. The water level of the Sana River and its tributaries is receding, but underground water is now causing problems. Water is being pumped out at several locations, followed by the cleaning and disinfection of flooded facilities. The situation is stabilizing in other municipalities of Kozara.

An emergency situation has been declared in the Banja Luka area due to landslides and mudslides caused by heavy rainfall in the past few days. The Bronzani Majdan settlement has been most affected.

More than 130 reports of landslides and mudslides have been received.

The Una and Sana rivers in Novi Grad are receding into their riverbeds, and the water levels are below the regular flood defense level.

The water level of the Una River this morning is 386 centimeters, which is 50 centimeters less than yesterday morning, according to the local Information Center. The water level of the Sana River is 408 centimeters, which is 60 centimeters less than yesterday morning.

Classes resumed today at the "Sveti Sava" Elementary School, after the facility was disinfected yesterday, as well as at the branch departments of the "Dragan Vujanović" Elementary School in Radomirovac and Sokolište.

Traffic in the Novi Grad area has returned to normal, except for the local road in Čađavica where a landslide has occurred.

The head of the Municipal Civil Protection Department, Mirko Lukić, said that the emergency services have received a total of 54 calls since last weekend.

He stated that, in addition to calls concerning threatened facilities, 14 reports were received due to water entering facilities, 14 reports due to road damage and landslides, and three due to agricultural damage.
