Soreca with Holtzapple: Adopt Laws on Courts and HJPC BiH as soon as possible, fully aligned with European standards

(Patria) - Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Luigi Soreca spoke today with the Head of the OSCE Mission in BiH, Ambassador Richard Holtzapple.

During the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon several key topics for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including reports of irregularities concerning the early presidential elections in the RS.

Soreca stated in a post on platform X that the focus of the meeting was the need to adopt the Law on Courts and the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH as soon as possible, fully aligned with European standards.

According to him, the adoption of these laws represents key steps towards strengthening the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina and opening the first intergovernmental conference, which would formally begin accession negotiations with the European Union.

During the meeting, early presidential elections in the RS were also discussed, including the initial findings of the international observation mission and information on reported irregularities.

Soreca emphasized that transparent, free, and fair electoral processes, based on the work of credible institutions, are key to strengthening citizens' trust and BiH's progress towards the European Union.

He also stated that the EU and OSCE in Bosnia and Herzegovina will remain close partners in supporting institutions and citizens in implementing reforms and moving the country closer to its European future.
