Slaven Kovačević: By demolishing Dayton, Čović jeopardizes the Southern Interconnection, but the decision will be made in Sarajevo, through resistance or betrayal

(Patria) - HDZ and Dragan Čović are attempting to blackmail the realization of the Southern Interconnection project by demolishing Dayton and destabilizing Bosnia and Herzegovina, conditions under which it is impossible to realize any projects, stated Slaven Kovačević, candidate of the Democratic Front for the Presidency of BiH, in a press release.

"Changes to the Election Law in the way HDZ envisions them, which are reflected in the formation of either a real or virtual third entity, are not and cannot be linked to the realization of the Southern Interconnection project. The only ones trying to link them are HDZ and Dragan Čović.

The project of building the Southern Interconnection will be realized outside the political desires of HDZ, which have no connection to the project," the statement added.

It was further added, "However, Dragan Čović and HDZ can demand and ask for whatever they want, but the decision will be made in Sarajevo, through resistance or betrayal, depending on what the political actors in Sarajevo decide".

"I take this opportunity to remind the so-called 'champions of European integration' of the Venice Commission's stance, which they regularly ignore, on the rules of conduct in the electoral process, which explicitly prohibits changing electoral rules in an election year.

Introducing new electoral technologies is not a change of electoral rules, while Čović's ideas about changing the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina certainly represent a change of electoral rules, contrary to the Venice Commission's stance.

With such positions, Čović is distancing Bosnia and Herzegovina from its Western partners and thus continuously causing damage to the state," Kovačević concluded.
