Union of Police Bodies to Discuss Protest Decision Today: Everything Depends on Budget Adoption in the House of Peoples of BiH PA

(Patria) - The Union of Police Bodies in BiH will hold a meeting today on further activities and take a final stance on holding protests announced for November 27 in front of the building of BiH institutions.

The unions decided to protest due to the non-adoption of the Budget of BiH institutions and international obligations for 2025, but today the Budget for this year is on the agenda of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

According to Patria's sources from the Union of Police Bodies, the decision will also depend on the outcome of today's session. Expectations are that the Budget will be adopted.

Employees in BiH institutions who were denied a salary increase despite the increased base, because the institutions are temporarily financed, should receive 1,000 KM each after the Budget is adopted. Thus, employees this year were deprived of an amount of around 900 KM to 1,800 KM, which police officers should have received.

Minister of Finance and Treasury Srđan Amidžić explained after the adoption of the Budget in the House of Representatives that the payment of 1,000 KM each for 22,500 employees, excluding elected and appointed officials, including related taxes, will require 36 million KM.

Although the union's request was for a payment of 1,800 KM each, it was possible to allocate less funds in the 2025 Budget, with the plan to allocate an additional minimum of 200 KM each in the 2026 Budget.

The session of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA begins at 11 AM.
