(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović issued a statement regarding the meeting of the members of the collective head of state with the German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock last night.
"Last night, I welcomed the esteemed German Minister Annalena Baerbock, emphasizing that her visit is extremely important and another indicator of Germany's strong support for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Among other things, I stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina has defined foreign policy goals - membership in the EU and NATO. In this regard, it would be important for the European Council to adopt a decision on opening accession negotiations with BiH this month.
The decision to start negotiations would be a stimulus for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to EU membership, but also a great encouragement for the citizens of our country," Bećirović conveyed.
He says he informed the German Minister in detail about the anti-Dayton and anti-constitutional activities of the leaders of the BiH entity of Rs.
"As long as they threaten peace and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is important that we have close cooperation between the international community and domestic authorities in stopping separatist policies," Bećirović states.
During the conversation, he points out, he also highlighted the close and multifaceted economic, political, cultural, and other ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany.
He also emphasized that Germany is one of BiH's most significant foreign trade partners, and that in recent years, there has been an additional increase in trade between the two countries.
"It is very important that the German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock firmly and unreservedly supported the independence and sovereignty of BiH, pointing out the destructiveness of policies advocating for changes to state borders in Europe.
It should be particularly emphasized that Minister Baerbock is extremely well-acquainted with the situation in our country and that she clearly identified politicians who do not act in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement," Bećirović concluded.
