(Patria) - According to data from the Eko akcija website, the air in Sarajevo was marked as unhealthy this morning, with a pollution index of 157 based on measurements at 9 AM.
This represents a slight improvement compared to previous days, when pollution reached the "dangerous" category.
The air is most polluted at the US Embassy (157) and Otoka (151) monitoring stations, followed by Saraj-polje (132), Bjelave (106), and Ilidža (106), while the pollution index at the Vijećnica monitoring station is 81.
Eko akcija explains that increased symptoms and intensity of diseases may occur in individuals with heart and respiratory diseases, such as asthma. Everyone else could begin to feel the negative effects of pollution on their health.
The following groups should reduce any strenuous outdoor physical activity: people with lung and heart conditions, pregnant women, children, and the elderly. Everyone else should also avoid prolonged or intense exertion while outdoors - they recommend.
Otherwise, fog and low cloudiness are forecast for Sarajevo today, and only next week are better weather conditions expected, which will allow Sarajevo residents to breathe a little easier.
