Radovan Kovačević candidate for BiH's chief negotiator with the EU

(Patria) - RS has quality people for the position of BiH's chief negotiator with the EU, and one of them is delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament Radovan Kovačević, "who can successfully perform this task", stated today the Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of RS, Željko Budimir.

Budimir stated that "in any case, the negotiator must be from RS, given that the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH is from the Croatian people, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs is from the Bosniak people.

- The negotiator will be the leader of the team from RS, which should prevent any of its competencies or positions from collapsing in the process of European integration, which political Sarajevo sees as an opportunity to weaken RS through this. That is why the negotiator's position is important - Budimir told reporters in Pale.

He believes that "RS has the capacity to find an adequate person".

Regarding the statements of the BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić that only the BiH Presidency can choose the negotiator, Budimir assessed that it is not relevant to consider this at the moment.

Komšić: Party leaders cannot appoint the EU negotiator, the BiH Presidency must appoint him!

- I think political responsibility should be placed on the people who currently form the government at the BiH level, and those agreements are essentially key - Budimir stated.

He added that "Komšić is a man who was elected by the votes of another party, another people, so when he talks about the Presidency, he is talking on behalf of the Bosniak national policy that elected him".
