Survey among union members underway, protests expected in front of KS Government on November 29

(Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton, in the Draft Budget of KS for 2025, determined the base salary of 385 KM for salary payments, despite the request from seven unions to increase the base salary to 425 KM.

The unions are continuing the fight for workers' rights, and activities have been undertaken to survey their members regarding the organization of protests by the Coordination of Unions. The survey will be conducted until November 15, and if a decision is made to hold protests, they are expected to take place on November 29 in front of the KS Government building.

Regarding the KS Budget for 2025, it has been set at 1,478,000,000 KM, which is 52.5 million KM less than the Budget for 2024.

KS Minister of Finance Afan Kalamujić stated at a press conference this week that the budget will have to be managed rationally and that he has informed all ministers in the KS Government about this.

There is less money in the KS Budget due to a reduction in weights, and KS is already facing a deficit of 80 million KM. Only 20 million KM is planned from the 2025 budget to cover part of the deficit.

The Coordination includes the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of FBiH - Cantonal Board SSOOiO, the Police Union of KS, the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of KS, the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees in State Administration Bodies, Judicial Authorities and Public Institutions in FBiH, the Union of Secondary and Higher Education, Upbringing, Science and Culture of BiH – Cantonal Board KS, the Union of Healthcare Workers in KS, and the Independent Union of Workers in the Communal Economy.
