US and EU at Odds: Uncertain Selection of Schmidt's Successor

Ambassadors of PIC member countries have arrived at the session, and in addition to the current political situation, the agenda includes the election of a new High Representative.

Portal Istraga.ba reports that due to turmoil within the PIC, there is a high probability that the High Representative will not be elected today or tomorrow.

Some PIC member countries (EU members) propose that Christian Schmidt remain at the head of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) until the end of the month.

The United States continues to insist on the appointment of Italian diplomat Antonio Zanardi Landi.

Recall, Schmidt submitted his resignation on May 11, but remains in office until his successor is elected.
