Detention Proposed for Suspects in Triple Murder Attempt in Vraca

(Patria) - Prosecutors of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office have proposed to the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo a one-month detention for suspects Amel Bogućanin and Amar Garibović for the criminal offenses of attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons. Detention was proposed due to the risk of flight, risk of concealing evidence, obstruction of investigation, influence on witnesses, repetition of the criminal offense, and the danger that the suspects' stay at large could cause public disturbance.

The suspects are charged with attempting to kill three people on June 7, 2026, in the area of the Vraca Memorial Park in Sarajevo, after prior agreement and with divided roles.

According to the investigation, a meeting between the suspects and the victims was arranged to resolve previous disagreements. After a brief verbal altercation, the suspects fired several shots from a firearm at three men.

On that occasion, two people sustained life-threatening injuries, while a third person sustained serious bodily injuries and is on the run. A search has been launched for him.

Suspect Bogućanin was questioned at the Sarajevo University Clinical Center (KCUS) as he is hospitalized in that health facility. The investigation is ongoing, and the results of the ballistics examination of the weapons, specifically four pistols, clothing found at the scene of the shooting, and paraffin gloves, should determine how many shots were fired, who fired them, and who all participated in the shooting.
