On the Occasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day, Gathering with Mothers of Srebrenica: Srebrenica Flower to be Built in Potočari

(Patria) - On the occasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day, a reception and dinner were held at Hotel Potočari Han near Srebrenica for the members of the Association of Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa. The dinner host was Muzafer Čilek, a prominent businessman from Turkey with Bosnian-Herzegovinian roots, owner of Hotel Potočari Han.

In an open conversation with the mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa, Čilek said that the meeting in Potočari is an opportunity to pay due tribute to the brave women who are symbols of strength, resistance, and the fight for justice.

"It is our obligation to appreciate and protect the Mothers of Srebrenica and respect their immeasurable pain. We must all respect their contribution to preserving the memory of the genocide committed against Bosniaks in Srebrenica, as well as their immense work in searching for the missing and building life in Srebrenica," Čilek emphasized.

Munira Subašić, president of the Association of Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa, thanked them on behalf of the association members for their hospitality, emphasizing that Statehood Day is an opportunity to remember all those we lost in the genocide.

"We must all contribute to the preservation and strengthening of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a country of equal and free people. Mothers have been doing this for decades, and it is important to us when others recognize our work and our actions. No one can bring back our murdered sons, daughters, husbands, brothers... But it is important to us when our friends understand the pain of mothers and want to share it with us. Tonight, we agreed on long-term cooperation with Mr. Čilek, and we also discussed the erection of the Srebrenica Flower memorial monument right here, in Potočari. Srebrenica Flower monuments have been erected all over the world, but there isn't one in Srebrenica. Our friend, the man who built Hotel Potočari Han and invested a lot in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has decided to help us and build this monument together," said Munira Subašić in her address to the attendees.

During the conversation, the Mothers of Srebrenica also invited other investors from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad to invest in Srebrenica, to show that Srebrenica is not abandoned and forgotten.

They invited all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to visit Srebrenica and experience this city as their own.

The event was also attended by members of the Zaimah Charity association from Great Britain, an organization dedicated to humanitarian work and assisting people affected by disasters worldwide.
