(Patria) - The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton continues to strengthen its infrastructural capacities in 2024, and one of the major projects in this area is the upgrade and adaptation of the Police Administration building in Novi Grad, in the settlement of Švrakino Selo, municipality of Novi Grad.
The Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Admir Katica, accompanied by his associates, Head of the Novi Grad Police Administration Salih Tuf, and Commander Selmir Lučin, visited the ongoing works at this building, which started in August last year and the first phase is expected to be completed soon. So far, the foundation structure, floor slab, reinforced concrete walls on the first floor have been completed, and the second slab is being prepared.
"The extension and adaptation of the Novi Grad Police Administration building will provide approximately 1,000 m2 of new space, and we will invest 1.6 million KM in this project. By extending the new premises, we will enable a new quality of services, better space for our employees, and improve the efficiency of police officers' work," stated Minister Katica.
"I am particularly pleased that in the new, extended premises of the counter hall, citizens will be provided with services for issuing personal documents, which they currently obtain at the post office in Alipašino Polje. We will change that, and documents will be issued at the Novi Grad Police Administration, and the extension will also provide new space for the work of the criminal police, the archive, and offices," added Minister Katica. The dynamics of the work are conditioned by the weather, but it is expected that the second phase of the building extension will begin in the spring, when more precise deadlines for the completion of construction can be discussed.
The existing building of the Novi Grad Police Administration in Švrakino Selo was built in 1985-86. At that time, it consisted of two buildings: a smaller single-story building and a larger building, connected by a covered passage. Due to a lack of capacity, the building was upgraded in 2000. The smaller building was extended by one floor and an attic space, while the larger building had a second floor added, the passage was enclosed, and a new entrance was formed. However, considering that this is a local community with the highest number of residents, these capacities also became insufficient over time.
The extension and adaptation of the Novi Grad Police Administration building will expand and adapt the existing capacities. The project includes the expansion of the counter hall and the construction of new office space on the ground floor, the construction of an archive on the first floor, and office space with associated communications on the second floor.
