Fifth Eco Drina Regatta: Around 450 participants to enjoy sailing on the Drina

(Patria) - The fifth Eco Drina Regatta will be held tomorrow in Goražde, an attractive event aimed at promoting tourism potential with an emphasis on the Drina as an underutilized resource in this part of the country. This year, the largest number of around 450 participants is expected to sail on about 60 boats.

Organizer Dženis Ćulov notes that, unlike previous years, this year's regatta is organized separately from the official program of the International Festival of Friendship.

- We want the regatta to be a standalone event through which we will promote everything Goražde has, not just be one of the festival's events - emphasizes Ćulov, announcing that professional skippers from Foča, with whom they have had excellent cooperation since last year, are coming to the regatta with 50 boats and equipment.

The regatta, which is generating significant interest, is organized with the support of USAID and the Peacebuilding Network, and will start from the camp of the Kayak Club „Buk“ on Modran.

- There has been a change in the lunch location, and this year it will be held at the most beautiful picnic area, Sadba, managed by the Goražde association Val, because we want to show how they have transformed a neglected area into an attractive and well-maintained place on the Drina riverbank, and in this way, we want to support them as well – states Ćulov.

In this way, he adds, they are also promoting the gastronomic offer, as the lunch will feature a specialty: traditional fish soup with Drina fish, pies, and grilled dishes. A DJ party will also be held at the Sadba picnic area, providing an additional opportunity for fun and socializing.

Arrival in Goražde is expected around 7 PM, where the socializing will continue with a DJ party in Omladinska Street.

The organizers are proud of the fact that the Eco Drina Regatta is attracting more and more interest year after year.

- Many tourists from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina have announced their participation, and they are the majority, but there are also participants from the region and the world. Our desire is to keep tourists engaged with this attractive event, and we are glad that those who participated in previous years are returning to Goražde and bringing even more people – emphasized Ćulov.
