SERIOUS WARNING FROM KU CZ: Take preventive measures for possible floods in the next two days

(Patria) - Given that the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has issued ORANGE WARNINGS for heavy precipitation and heavy rain, forecasting between 30 and 60 liters of rain per square meter, and that locally up to 80 liters per square meter may fall in the area of western, northern and eastern Herzegovina and southwestern and part of central Bosnia for the time interval from October 8, 2024 at 23:00 to October 9, 2024 until 11:00, which can cause flash floods, landslides and rockfalls, the Civil Protection Administration of the Sarajevo Canton warns all legal and natural persons to, preventively for the protection of human health and life, as well as material and cultural goods, IMMEDIATELY in accordance with their competencies and obligations prescribed by the Law on Protection and Rescue of People and Material Goods from Natural and Other Disasters, take the necessary preventive measures for protection against floods, landslides and rockfalls, i.e. to prepare adequate forces and material-technical resources for a rapid response to the announced possible flash floods, landslides and rockfalls.

'This will create preconditions for more efficient and faster responses of all subjects of the protection and rescue system in a comprehensive response to potential challenges and threats from floods, landslides and rockfalls, and thus avoid possible dangers to human lives and major material damage.

"We especially appeal to the municipal civil protection services in the Sarajevo Canton area to CONTINUOUSLY INSPECT THE MOST ENDANGERED AREAS FROM FLOODS AND LANDSLIDES, AND TO IMMEDIATELY put their organized protection and rescue forces on standby, so that they are READY AS FIRST RESPONSE FORCES, to react in accordance with their competencies and obligations under the protection and rescue plans to potentially possible heavy rainfall in the area of their municipalities," state the Civil Protection of the Sarajevo Canton.

They remind the aforementioned entities that they are obliged, IMMEDIATELY upon noticing or learning of any danger or occurrence that could lead to a natural or other disaster, to submit all data about it to the Cantonal Operational Center for Civil Protection at telephone number 121, which operates continuously 24 hours a day.
