Municipal Court in Sarajevo rules Elmedin Konaković defamed Istraga editor Avdo Avdić on Face TV

(Patria) - BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković lied when he claimed that Istraga.ba editor Avdo Avdić arranged his arrest in Pale. This is, in short, a non-final ruling by the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, by which Konaković was "convicted" of defamation.

"IT IS DETERMINED that the defendant Elmedin Konaković, in the show 'CENTRALNI DNEVNIK SA SENADOM HADŽIFEJZOVIĆEM' aired on FACE TV on 12.11.2022, presented untrue facts and defamed the plaintiff AVDIĆ Avdo, thereby causing damage to the honor and reputation of the plaintiff AVDIĆ Avdo by presenting untrue facts.

THE DEFENDANT IS ORDERED to pay the plaintiff AVDIĆ Avdo the amount of 2,000.00 KM as compensation for non-material damage due to the violation of honor and reputation caused by presenting untrue facts in the show 'CENTRALNI DNEVNIK SA SENADOM HADŽIFEJZOVIĆEM' aired on FACE TV on 12.11.2022, with statutory default interest from 30.12.2022 until payment, within 30 days of receiving the verdict.

The defendant is obliged to compensate the plaintiff for the costs of the litigation proceedings in the amount of 1,442.80 KM, with statutory default interest from 09.07.2025 until payment, within 30 days of receiving the verdict, while the plaintiff's claim beyond the awarded amount is rejected," stated the verdict of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, issued on July 9th of this year.



The explanation of the verdict stated that the president of NiP, Elmedin Konaković, while a guest on Face TV, said that "Osman Mehmedagić, this Šahinpašić from OSE, and Avdo Avdić were sitting in Pale a few days ago, in Pale, mind you, in a cafe in Pale. We have witnesses who saw them there, in order to create some new, some new thing".

When asked by Senad Hadžifejzović if this was accurate information, Konaković replied: "Completely, I'm saying it publicly, what I know, I say, I don't make things up, so that they would connect me with some businessmen who finance NiP with dirty money".

During the proceedings before the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, Konaković did not propose the hearing of the witness he referred to. He did not offer any evidence for his claims to the court. Therefore, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo concluded that the president of NiP and Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković defamed Avdo Avdić.

If this verdict becomes final, the money paid as compensation will be donated by Istraga editor Avdo Avdić to the Basketball Club Bosna, which still suffers the consequences from the period when Konaković managed it.
