Okerić accuses Šaljić of helping the opposition, Šaljić responds that the 'trojka' is collapsing its own government and mayors of Centar and Novo Sarajevo

(Patria) - As October 25th and the session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, where the resignation of KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk will be considered, approach, relations among the Assembly members are intensifying.

The Speaker of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, Elvedin Okerić (NIP), shared his view of the current situation on his Facebook profile, specifically addressing a member of the Party for BiH, whose ministers are being expelled from the KS Government. He was bothered by the fact that Jasmin Šaljić, a member of the Party for BiH, supported the request for a constitutional review of the Law on Higher Education of KS, thus helping SDA and DF in that intention.

Member of the Party for BiH, Jasmin Šaljić, responded to these accusations on his profile today.

“I don’t see what the problem is with initiating a request for a constitutional review of any law, including the Law on Higher Education? It is obvious that this is unknown to the Speaker of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, that it is an integral part of parliamentary democracy. It is much better for us representatives, as well as for the citizens, to be able to send all laws and decisions for a constitutional review, because through this we achieve better solutions.

I signed the Request for a constitutional review of the Law on Higher Education for the reasons stated above, but also because these representatives supported my initiative to honor all fallen members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina after the singing of the BiH anthem before the start of each session. The Canton Assembly adopted the initiative by a vote of 22 votes FOR! And I thought it would be unanimous. Imagine, 13 representatives for some reason were not FOR, they did not vote, they were absent, they abstained, and some were even against. The initiative would not have passed without the votes of the opposition, i.e., representatives from SDA and DF.

I did not have the support for this initiative from Speaker Okerić either, who, by the way, obstructed my initiative by not including it on the agenda and advised me to give up. The problem in the initiative is the sentence: honoring each in their own way by reciting Fatiha or in some other way. Here, it seems, the only problem is "Fatiha". What will the parties say, what will the embassies say, etc.,” Šaljić stated.

He further states that the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina is being expelled from the cantonal coalition simply because it did not support Schmidt’s unconstitutional actions and the imposed government of the FBiH, elected outside the democratic will of the people.

“From the very beginning, you did not want to do anything concrete. The Canton Assembly dealt exclusively with trivial matters. At the local level, you are overthrowing your own mayors and coalition partners from the 'trojka', examples are the municipalities of Centar and Novo Sarajevo. At the cantonal level, you have overthrown your own Government. That is your policy, not ours from SBiH, Mr. Okerić,” Šaljić stated.
