33rd anniversary of the suffering of Višegrad Bosniaks marked: 3,000 roses for 3,000 lives

(Patria) - The 33rd anniversary of the beginning of crimes against Bosniaks from that area was marked in Višegrad today. 3,000 roses were dropped into the Drina River from the Mehmed-paša Sokolović Bridge for as many killed Bosniaks from that city.

During the commemoration, organized by the Association of Families of the Missing "Višegrad 92-95," the names of murdered children from Višegrad were also read out.

According to data from the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, 487 people are still being searched for, and an appeal was made today to reveal the locations of their remains so they can be buried with dignity.

The president of the Association of Families of the Missing Višegrad 92-95, Hedija Kasapović, emphasizes that, unfortunately, nothing has changed for over three decades.

"It is sad that our loved ones are not found. One funeral prayer is planned for today alone. War criminals are not being arrested and walk freely in Višegrad. However, as long as we are alive, our loved ones will not be forgotten," said Kasapović.

The director of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, Saliha Đuderija, emphasized that Višegrad is one of the ten municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina where the largest number of citizens went missing, including a large number of women and children.

After the commemoration at the Mehmed-paša Sokolović Bridge and the noon prayer at the Careva Mosque in Višegrad, a funeral prayer was held and the remains of Ibrahim Avdagić (41), a victim of war crimes from this city who was killed in 1992, were buried at the Stražište cemetery.
