AFTER ADOPTED RESOLUTION, Srebrenica Flower in UN Park in New York to be Unveiled on July 7

(Patria) - The "Srebrenica Flower" monument in the United Nations Park in New York will be unveiled on July 7, one year after the adoption of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica by the UN General Assembly and on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

Activities have been underway for a longer period, and the initiators of these activities are the UN, Bosnia and Herzegovina, MC Srebrenica, the Movement of Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa, and the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide.

According to the official Program for marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks "UN SC" Srebrenica from July 1995, representatives of the UN, member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović, ambassadors, mothers of Srebrenica, as well as numerous BiH diaspora are expected to attend the unveiling of the Srebrenica Flower in New York.

The day before, on July 6, the exhibition "Mother's Scarf" will be set up in New York with the support of the Turkish Embassy.

We remind you that the Resolution declares July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica 1995, which will be observed every year.

It unequivocally condemns any denial of the Srebrenica genocide as a historical event and calls on member states to preserve established facts, including through their educational systems, by developing appropriate programs, also in remembrance, in order to prevent denial and distortion of facts, and the occurrence of genocide in the future.

It condemns all actions that glorify those convicted of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide by international courts, including those responsible for the genocide in Srebrenica.

It emphasizes the importance of completing the process of finding and identifying the remaining victims of the Srebrenica genocide and their dignified burial, and calls for the continued prosecution of those perpetrators of the Srebrenica genocide who have yet to face justice.

The Resolution calls on all states to fully adhere to their obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, as applicable, and international customary law on the prevention and punishment of genocide, with due respect for the relevant decisions of the ICJ.

On the anniversary day, July 11, a commemoration will be held in Potočari for the victims to be buried this year. So far, five families have given consent for five victims, but the final number will be known by the beginning of July.
