Remains of Bosniak victim missing since 1992 found in Višegrad area

(Patria) - A professional associate from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is on the ground at the Povjestača site, Višegrad municipality, where, in agreement with the presiding prosecutor, he coordinates the activities of officials participating in the exhumation process.

Almost complete skeletal remains of an adult male were found at the said location.

According to collected information and preliminary findings, these are the remains of a victim of Bosniak ethnicity, missing since 1992.

The remains will be sent to the morgue in Goražde for DNA sampling and further forensic medical processing in order to establish identity.

The exhumation process involved a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (INO) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), necessary workers and machinery, while the location was secured by members of the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska, Višegrad Police Station.
