CS Ministry of Internal Affairs Donated Four Vehicles to BPK Ministry of Internal Affairs, Provided Financial Support of 176,000 KM for Cadet Training

(Patria) - The Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton (CS), Admir Katica, and the Police Commissioner of the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Directorate, Fatmir Hajdarević, today handed over four official vehicles that the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs has allocated for use by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of BPK Goražde.

The handover was attended by the Speaker of the CS Assembly, Elvedin Okerić, and the delegation was welcomed in Goražde by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, Nezim Alagić, the Speaker of the BPK Goražde Assembly, Muradif Kanlić, the Prime Minister of BPK, Edin Ćulov, the Minister of Internal Affairs of BPK Goražde, Nusret Hubjer, and Police Commissioner Damir Bogunić.

The Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde is located at a tripoint and near the state border with Serbia and Montenegro, and in recent years has become a transit route for migrants.

Due to a deficit of adequate vehicles, it has been difficult for police officers in this canton to access rural areas when performing official duties.

Therefore, the CS Government made a Decision to grant consent to the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs - Police Directorate to allocate four motor vehicles to the BPK Goražde Ministry of Internal Affairs for temporary use: a Škoda Octavia, two Golf 7 vehicles, and a Rexton vehicle.

Minister Katica reminded that behind every support provided by the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs to the BPK Ministry of Internal Affairs are the CS Government and Assembly, which thus demonstrate their commitment to supporting this canton.

- In addition to the vehicles we are handing over to the BPK Goražde Ministry of Internal Affairs today, the CS Government has also accepted our proposal to finance the training of their cadets in the amount of 176,000 KM, and we expect consent from the CS Assembly to donate 40 pistols to them.

In addition to this, I am particularly pleased that the BPK Goražde Ministry of Internal Affairs has adopted our methodology for admitting new police officers and that, unlike in previous years, they are now admitting new police officers in a completely transparent and fair manner.

The best indicator of our patriotism towards the country is when we ensure that police work is carried out by the best, not the most suitable candidates - stated Minister Katica, adding that support for the BPK Goražde Ministry of Internal Affairs will continue in the future.

Speaker of the CS Assembly Elvedin Okerić emphasized that he is particularly pleased with the continuity shown by the CS Government and Assembly in supporting this canton, which was not the case in the previous two and a half decades.

- I am glad that we are writing new history together in the relations between Sarajevo Canton and Bosnian-Podrinje Canton.

I am particularly pleased with the cooperation in exchanging experiences and methodologies for admitting new police officers, which we have worked on seriously in CS because it is important for us that only the best work in law enforcement institutions at the level of the entire FBiH - Okerić said.

Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević pointed out that the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Directorate is one of the best-equipped in the country and can therefore provide support to colleagues in BPK Goražde, not only in terms of material and technical resources.

- We cooperate daily on exchanging experiences, operational actions, establishing contacts, and there is no obstacle we have not overcome together.

The equipment we handed over today will increase the mobility of police officers of the BPK Goražde Police Directorate, enable better service to citizens, as well as tourists and guests of this canton - stated Hajdarević.

Nusret Hubjer, Minister of Internal Affairs of BPK Goražde, thanked for this significant support, stating that the value of the assistance provided and announced today is around 300,000 KM.

- The value of the vehicles handed over to us is around 130,000 KM, while the CS Government has also approved funding for the training of our 24 newly admitted police officers, totaling about 300,000 KM, which is of enormous importance to us.

This support has been continuous since 2019, and we in BPK Goražde truly appreciate it, because in this way Sarajevo Canton shows its commitment to supporting and strengthening us in every sense - said Minister Hubjer.

Commissioner Damir Bogunić agreed with his words, emphasizing that the BPK Goražde Ministry of Internal Affairs has received all the assistance it requested from Sarajevo Canton in the last two years.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, Nezim Alagić, stated that he believes that such actions show that the policy in Sarajevo Canton is committed to strengthening the security forces in BPK.

- This is an indication to us that our efforts to become a credible partner in establishing strong security institutions through dedicated work and effort have been recognized - said Alagić.

Prime Minister of BPK Goražde, Edin Ćulov, emphasized that the support for the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton is significant also from the perspective of tourism development.

- After the construction of the Hranjen tunnel, the drive between Sarajevo and Goražde will take only 45 minutes, and Goražde is an undiscovered tourist destination with great expectations.

Therefore, such assistance is extremely important for us to have a prepared and equipped police force - added Ćulov.

After the official handover of vehicles, the delegations laid flowers and paid tribute at the memorial to fallen police officers in front of the BPK Goražde Ministry of Internal Affairs building, the memorial to Commander Zaim Imamović, and the memorial to the murdered children of Goražde.
