Mioković Ignores Police Unions: They Were Not Allowed to Attend Sessions of the Security Commission or the FBiH Parliament

(Patria) - The Union of Independent Police Unions of FBiH expressed disappointment with the actions of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, Dragan Mioković, who, despite multiple requests, did not invite any representative union to attend today's session of the Security Commission of this house, which is considering the proposed amendments to the Law on Police Officers of FBiH.

Instead of union representatives, the Minister of Internal Affairs of FBiH, Ramo Isak, who is the proposer of the amendments, was invited to the Commission.

"After several letters we sent to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, Dragan Mioković, in which we requested attendance at both the Parliament session and the Security Commission session, when the Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Police Officers of the FBIH is being considered, and considering that Mr. Mioković also chairs the Security Commission, we express our deep disappointment with the Speaker's actions, who did not invite any representative union to the session, which essentially shows that he has sided with those who do not respect social dialogue," stated the president of the Union of Independent Police Unions of FBiH, Mirza Hadžiabdić.

Police Unions Strongly Against Amendments to the Law on Police Officers of FBiH: Who is in a Hurry for Pensioners to Remain in the FUP?

By Amra Vrabac The Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Police Officers of the Federation of BiH is also to be considered under an urgent procedure at the two-day session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament scheduled for January 19 and 20.

They emphasize that they believe Mioković knows very well that the solutions offered in the Draft Law are not systemic but serve personal interests.

"Therefore, considering the fact that he earned his pension working in the internal affairs bodies, it is even more disheartening that he has sided with those who support personal interests rather than the interests of the service and public security. Representative unions, including the Union of Independent Police Unions of FBiH, will continue all legally permitted activities to prevent such a draft law from being adopted in the FBiH Parliament, and we hereby appeal to the members of the Security Commission of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament and to the representatives of both houses of Parliament not to support this catastrophic Draft Law, which is against the interests of the police service and the public security of citizens and their property," said Hadžiabdić.

Incidentally, besides Mioković, the Security Commission includes Damir Mašić, Franka Leko, Hajrudin Žilić, Salko Zildžić, Arnel Isak, son of the FBiH Minister of Internal Affairs, Kenan Uzunović, Petar Galić, Amel Mekić, and Almedin Aliefendić.

The session of the House of Representatives, where the law is to be considered, is being held on January 19 and 20.
