Minister Konaković attends unveiling ceremony of 'Srebrenica Flower' in New York

(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković attended today in New York, at the invitation of the United Nations, the unveiling ceremony of the "Srebrenica Flower" memorial.

The event, organized by the United Nations Program for Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide, was held in the park of the United Nations headquarters.

Speakers at the ceremony included member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović, UN Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide Chaloka Beyani, and President of the Association of Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Munira Subašić.

Participants emphasized the importance of continuous remembrance, education, and international solidarity to ensure that genocide never repeats anywhere.

The "Srebrenica Flower" memorial, created by renowned Bosnian-Herzegovinian artist Adin Hebib, is a permanent symbol of remembrance for the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, as well as a symbol of courage, the fight for truth and justice, and a warning that evil must never be repeated.

The memorial serves as a reminder of the shared humanity and collective responsibility of the entire international community to prevent the recurrence of genocide anywhere in the world.

The unveiling ceremony of the memorial was attended by delegations from numerous countries, who paid tribute to the victims of the genocide committed in 1995.

As part of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, Minister Konaković has also participated in a series of events in recent period, from New York to Vienna and Srebrenica, emphasizing the message that the truth about Srebrenica is the foundation of international justice, and the culture of remembrance is a guarantee that such a crime will never be repeated.
