Mesihović and Obhođaš remain in custody for another two months, Uk to propose dismissal of the Minister of Higher Education

(Patria) - The Municipal Court in Sarajevo accepted the proposal of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office and extended the custody of the suspects Adna Mesihović, Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS, and Ibrahim Obhođaš for another two months.

They were arrested in April in the Koverta operation, and Mesihović is suspected of abuse of position or authority, and Obhođaš of the criminal offense of receiving a reward or other form of benefit for trading in influence.

Dženita Viteškić, Assistant Minister of Higher Education, was also arrested in the Koverta operation, but she was released with certain restrictive measures. She is also suspected of abuse of position or authority.

During the hearing this week, the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office presented new facts regarding the criminal offenses attributed to the suspects, which related to employment in the Ministry of Higher Education, transfers to other ministries, and the appointment of the director of the Public Institution Student Center...

Obhođaš is also a member of the Steering Board of the Employment Service of KS, and all three are members of the political initiative For New Generations.

In a continuation of the Koverta operation, on April 25, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy in the KS Government, Enda Pavić Pečenković, was also arrested, but there were no grounds for imposing custody or measures.

The investigation in this case is ongoing.

KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk announced this morning on BHT that he will submit an initiative to dismiss Minister Mesihović if her custody is extended or if restrictive measures are imposed on her performing her duties.

After her arrest, the Ministry is managed by the Minister of Justice and Administration, Darja Softić-Kadenić.
