'Merhamet' opens bakery for the socially disadvantaged in Srebrenica

(Patria) - The Muslim charitable society "Merhamet" opened its bakery in Srebrenica today. This is the third "Merhamet" bakery in BiH, as this humanitarian organization previously opened bakeries in Tuzla and Goražde.

The president of "Merhamet", Kenan Vrbanjac, said that this bakery, like those in Tuzla and Goražde, will be of a social character and will produce bread for people in need.

- We are happy to have realized "Merhamet's" plan to open a bakery in Srebrenica in order to help socially disadvantaged families in this area.

We succeeded in this in cooperation with our long-term partner humanitarian organization IHH from Turkey, which donated modern equipment for the bakery - said Vrbanjac.

According to his words, the total investment in Srebrenica is worth around 220,000 KM, which covered the cost of modern equipment for the bakery donated by IHH and the renovation of the building where the bakery is located.

The "Merhamet" bakery in Srebrenica has been placed under the management of the Regional Board of "Merhamet" Tuzla, which, through its main board in that city, operates in the area of Srebrenica.

The opening of the "Merhamet" bakery in Srebrenica was also attended by a delegation from Turkey. It was led by a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish IHH, Osman Atalay, who expressed satisfaction that another joint project of IHH and "Merhamet" had been realized.

- For the umpteenth time, we have convinced ourselves that "Merhamet" is a serious and respectable humanitarian organization, our partner with whom we plan to realize more significant projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in crisis areas around the world, where we have been working together for years and cooperating very well - said Atalay.
