(Patria) - Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Refik Lendo attended the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance for the murdered children of besieged Sarajevo.
By laying flowers and reciting Fatiha at the Memorial to the murdered children of besieged Sarajevo, he paid tribute to 1,601 murdered children.
- On this day we remember the suffering during the 1,425 days of the barbaric siege of Sarajevo and remember the murdered children, interrupted youth and violently ended lives.
Even after three decades, there are no verdicts directly related to the murders of children during the siege of Sarajevo. This obliges us to persist in seeking justice and prosecuting those responsible.
It is our duty to preserve memory and dignity, with respect for the parents and the responsibility to pass on the truth as a pledge to future generations.
The murdered youth of Sarajevo must never be forgotten, and the truth about their suffering remains a permanent warning and an obligation we must uphold.
