Lejla Brčić accuses Edin Forto and Our Party of her dismissal from KCUS Management Board

(Patria) - Former Minister of Justice of Sarajevo Canton Lejla Brčić (Our Party) accused party president Edin Forto and responsible persons from Our Party on social networks after her dismissal from the Management Board of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo (KCUS).

"Considering that I received a lot of media inquiries today regarding the decision of the Government of the Federation of BiH to appoint acting members of the KCUS Management Board, specifically regarding the reasons for my dismissal from this position, for the purpose of informing the public, but also for the protection of my professional dignity, I have decided to address this matter in this way.

Since, after the decisions of the UNSA Senate regarding the loss of teaching title by the General Director of KCUS, I insisted on making decisions to initiate the dismissal procedure for the General Director, and since the refusal to make such a decision is the main reason for the dismissal of the (now former) Management Board of KCUS, the reasons for my dismissal are unclear to the media representatives in the inquiries I received," Brčić stated.

She added that she was appointed to the KCUS Management Board after a public tender procedure, and during her tenure, she claims to have worked and represented the interests of Sarajevo Canton and acted exclusively in accordance with the guidelines of the KS Government, which she asserts can be confirmed at any time by the Prime Minister and the relevant Minister.

"Today's decision is exclusively the result of the self-serving motives of individuals, specifically responsible persons within Our Party. For some time now, there has been a disagreement with the leadership, primarily with President Edin Forto, regarding the decisions being made and the way they are made, which has resulted in my earlier withdrawal from positions in bodies and entities managed or formerly managed by him (from the position of Minister of Justice and Administration of KS, from the Party Presidency, etc.).

Numerous red lines have been crossed, which is not something I could agree with or stand behind. Freedom of thought, and especially decision-making within Our Party, has been reduced to a minimum, and those who raise their voice are labeled as outcasts and enemies.

One of the latest examples is the decision of President Edin Forto to dissolve the Local Board of Lukavac and close the party office in Lukavac, because, believe it or not, the municipal board of Lukavac signed a cooperation agreement with NIP and SDP.

So, the party president dissolves (and completely shuts down by closing the office) a local board because of a cooperation agreement with parties that are our coalition partners at all levels?

Solely because he was not consulted! Similar decisions were made earlier regarding the Local Boards of Our Party in Mostar and Goražde. Numerous valuable and quality members have been driven out of the party in this way.

"Brčić stated.

She continues that precisely because of her open disagreement with this way of leading the party, the latest decision to exclude her from the KCUS Management Board was made, even though, she says, there is no legal basis for it, after months of fighting windmills, with only one motive – to (finally) inform the leadership about her withdrawal from membership.

"The decision-makers have of course proceeded from their perspective – fighting for positions, assuming that this will be important and decisive for my further status. I did not seek any position I held, including the position in the KCUS Management Board, nor is it important to me in the context of personal advancement.

My only goal was for this institution to return to the citizens, to restore public trust in both the institution and the government by respecting the decisions of competent authorities and valid laws.

I performed my duties in the KCUS Management Board in that manner, and I am extremely proud of it, regardless of all the pressures and unpleasantness I experienced. Such conduct was my decision, and that fight was part of my personal conviction.

In that regard, I thank the media who followed the work of the KCUS Management Board and my work in that body during my tenure, and who informed the public about it in a very fair and objective manner," Brčić emphasized.

Of course, she adds, she will not make a decision to withdraw from the party, because, as she says, she did not join Our Party because of Edin Forto or anyone else, but because of the ideas and ideals she still believes in, however naive that may sound.

"It is still a party that has excellent members, that has very high-quality personnel, that advocates for ideas that are in the interest of this country. Individuals who have deviated from the ideals will, quite certainly, face the consequences of their actions at some point.

Finally, I cannot fail to thank my colleagues from the leadership of SDP and NiP, who acted extremely correctly in this entire situation and made themselves fully available.

I thank the Prime Minister, the relevant Minister, and the members of the KS Government for the good cooperation in the previous period, and I congratulate the newly appointed acting members of the Management Board and wish them luck in their future work," Lejla Brčić concluded in a lengthy Facebook status.
