Komšić in Ilijaš: Thanks to the Catholic Church, the referendum on BiH's independence was successful

(Patria) - Organized by the Unified Veterans Organization "Union of Veterans Canton Sarajevo - Municipality of Ilijaš", the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Željko Komšić, attended the commemoration of the anniversary of the death of Major Hašim Spahić.

On that occasion, Komšić addressed the attendees and thanked them for preserving the memory of what "most of us here did during the defense from '92 to '95".

"Therefore, a personal line of remembrance should be drawn, because what was, was, what happened, happened. And so that it does not happen again, in the same or a worse form, it is important to remember this, the people who laid down their lives and those who dedicated their lives to this country," said Komšić.

He said it is important to thank all those who defended this country.

"Not only those who carried weapons, but all those who decided to build this country, from bakers to teachers. And for those who did not go through it, it should be explained what a miracle it was. For those who do not respect it, nothing should be explained. It was important to defend this country," Komšić emphasized.

At the anniversary commemoration, Komšić especially thanked the parish priest of Ilijaš who came today.

"You people of Ilijaš know what life is, I don't like to say coexistence. It should be honest to say, because that is also being forgotten, thanks to the Catholic Church, let's not lie, the referendum of March 1, 1992 was successful. This should never be forgotten, and these things should not be pushed into some corner. It is worth remembering. All that the Vatican and the Catholic Church did for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Political disagreements should not be highlighted because it is neither the time nor the place, we are talking about what unites us, and this place is exactly that. To gather us, to unite us, to say that we were proud to be part of the defense of BiH," said Komšić, writes Vijesti.ba.
