Islamic Community: Additional Efforts to Aid the People of Gaza

(Patria) - The Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina has allocated an additional 787,000 BAM to aid the people of Gaza, bringing the total assistance from the Islamic Community to this area to 3,556,000 BAM.

"With the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza in recent days, and especially ahead of the month of Ramadan, the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina has intensified efforts to deliver aid to the people of Gaza. Previously, we secured over 3.5 million BAM in aid, part of which has been delivered, and part is on its way to being delivered," said on this occasion the Director of the Directorate for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Riyasat, Muhamed Jusić.

We recall that in the first days, the Riyasat of the Islamic Community allocated urgent aid to the people of Gaza from the Fund for Humanitarian Crises, and subsequently organized a campaign that was joined by members of the Islamic Community, as well as some municipalities and business entities.

"The Islamic Community has taken a very proactive role since the beginning of the crisis in this part of the world. From the start, we insisted that the problem must be resolved peacefully, we called for an end to violence and de-escalation, which the Council of Muftis and the Assembly of the Islamic Community did with their declaration," reminded Director Jusić.

In cooperation with several local and international organizations, food packages, medicines, baby food, tents, blankets, and other necessities have been delivered to the endangered population of Gaza.

"We organized a campaign with our congregations and collected funds, and in cooperation with a number of domestic and international organizations, from the USA, through the Republic of Turkey, to our 'Merhamet', we constantly delivered aid, as circumstances allowed. At one point, nothing could enter Gaza, so we ensured that goods were at the borders waiting to enter.

Today, we are trying to deliver as much of this aid as possible, hoping it will arrive on time and at least slightly alleviate all the suffering and what the residents of Gaza are going through," said Director Jusić.

These activities will continue in the coming period, and additional talks are being intensively conducted with international organizations responsible for the distribution of aid in the Gaza Strip.
