Hurtić symbolically laid 11 roses in the Drina River in Bratunac, honoring 11 innocent victims

(Patria) - Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtic, visited Bratunac today, where he toured the location where migrants recently attempted to cross the border from Serbia into Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The visit was organized with the aim of assessing the situation on the ground and evaluating the need for additional measures to protect the human rights of migrants and preserve the security of the local population.

During the visit, Minister Hurtić met with representatives of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the RS Civil Protection, the Bratunac Municipality Fire Department, and the Mayor of Bratunac Municipality, who are involved in providing assistance to migrants. The Minister expressed concern about the challenges faced by migrants attempting to cross the border, emphasizing the need for additional efforts to ensure their safety.

"The situation with migrants requires immediate and coordinated action from all relevant institutions and organizations. Our goal is to ensure humane treatment for all migrants, but also to protect the interests and security of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Hurtic stated during the visit.

Today, Hurtić symbolically laid 11 roses in the Drina River, honoring 11 innocent victims whose lives were tragically lost in this area.

"Each of these roses symbolizes a lost life, a family left in pain. We are here today to remember these victims, but also to send a message about the importance of justice, peace, and humanity," said Hurtić.

The Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees will continue to monitor the situation on the ground and work with domestic and international partners to ensure a humane and just approach to migration, in line with the international standards and obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Hurtić also emphasized the importance of the support provided by local communities and international organizations, and expressed the Ministry's readiness to provide additional assistance in resolving the humanitarian and security challenges arising from the migrant crisis.
