Halal industry in focus at meeting in Zenica

(Patria) - The development of the halal industry and strengthening cooperation with domestic producers were the topic of today's meeting held at the Ministry of Economy of Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK).

The meeting was attended by Minister Samir Šibonjić, Director of the Halal Quality Certification Agency of BiH Damir Alihodžić, and Director of the Institute for Health and Food Safety Zenica Muamer Mandra.

The discussion between representatives of the Ministry, the Agency, and the Institute was dedicated to the development of the halal industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, strengthening cooperation with producers from ZDK, and promoting domestic companies that possess halal certificates.

It was emphasized that the halal industry has been experiencing continuous growth in recent years and that an increasing number of companies from the food, processing, and service sectors recognize the importance of halal certification as a confirmation of quality and production standards.

Precisely because of this, cooperation between expert institutions, the economy, and competent ministries plays an important role in strengthening the competitiveness of domestic producers.

Concrete models of cooperation were also discussed regarding the promotion of domestic products, support for companies wishing to enter the halal certification process, and the creation of a better business environment for the development of the halal economy in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Special attention was paid to the possibilities of institutional support for halal-certified producers and the development of the halal industry in the Zenica-Doboj Canton.

The interlocutors assessed that the Zenica-Doboj Canton has significant potential for further development of the halal industry, especially due to the large number of food producers and companies that already operate according to high standards of product quality and safety.
