(Patria) - The discussion about the extinguished flame in the Vraca Memorial Park has also continued.
After an exchange of information between the Minister of Communal Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Almir Bečarević, and the Mayor of Centar Municipality, Srđan Mandić, the Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, also joined the discussion.
If we forget the sacrifices of our grandfathers, our children will forget the sacrifices of their fathers. This morning I thought about what those who fought for a better tomorrow, which we live today, would say about the extinguished flame at Vraca. What would the anti-fascist fighters who won and placed us on the side of the civilized world say. I am sure they would consider it unacceptable for us to extinguish the flame of anti-fascism, said Mayor Karić.
She adds that she has received a large number of messages from fellow citizens with the same stance.
"Symbolism has no price, and that is why the City of Sarajevo allocates 3,000 KM per month for the maintenance costs of the Eternal Flame. The flame at Vraca is also symbolic. Tomorrow, I will propose to my colleagues, the mayors of the four city municipalities, and the competent ministry that we divide the costs of maintaining this flame into equal parts. The City is ready to take on part of the cost. I am sure they will accept! Six institutions will not even feel it. Let the flame of anti-fascism and freedom burn forever in Sarajevo!", concluded Karić.
