Film 'Victory' by Zulfikar Filandra won Adriatic Award at Dorico International Film Fest

(Patria) - At the 22nd Dorico International Film Fest in Ancona, a selection of short films dedicated to the cinematography of Bosnia and Herzegovina was screened, and Zulfikar Filandra's film "Victory" received the Adriatic Award.

The international competition program Adriatic Award was realized in partnership with the Silver Frame Film Festival. The Adriatic Award is created through the cooperation of festivals gathered in the Network of Adriatic Festivals - MoliseCinema, Sulmona International Film Festival, Sudestival, and Dorico International Film Festival with the aim of strengthening cultural dialogue between the two Adriatic coasts.

The selection of films was chosen by director Ado Hasanović. The following films were screened in the competition program:

"Victory" - director: Zulfikar Filandra

"Gaia" - directors: Nermin Hamzagić and Enis Čišić

"Good Luck, Sara!" - director: Isidora Ratković

"This Was a Graffiti" - director: Valeriya Boyko

"Zanzibar 4K Colorized" - director: Lea Tošić

"Kafana na Balkanu" - director: Boris Gavrilović

The screening was attended by director Valeriya Boyko, author of the film This Was a Graffiti, originally from Ukraine, which was filmed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Adriatic Award was given to the film "Victory" by director Zulfikar Filandra.

Jury's statement:

The short film "Victory" intertwines social dimension and meta-cinematic reflection, through the story of Velid, a young worker who becomes a symbol of a generation marked by disappointment after losing his job. Through an encounter with two directors, the film explores the power of the cinematic gaze and the tension between social critique and the exploitation of suffering.

The direction, balanced between realism and experiment, along with the cinematography by Amel Đikoli and editing by Marija Kovačina, builds a strong cinematic language that emphasizes the fragility, but also the dignity of the characters. "Victory" transforms a local story into a universal film about the dignity of labor and the role of cinema as memory and critical conscience.

A Special Mention was awarded to the film Good Luck, Sara!, directed by Isidora Ratković. The decision was made by the jury composed of: Carlo Liberatore (Sulmona International Film Festival), Cristian Ferrao (Molise Cinema), Marco Maiorano (Sulmona International Film Festival), and Michele Suma (Sudestival).
