Elektrodistribucija Zvornik cuts power, interrupts screening of film about Liplje camp and crimes

(Patria) - The premiere of the documentary film “Liplje – Return to Freedom”, by author Avdo Huseinović, was interrupted in the village of Liplje near Zvornik after a sudden power outage occurred. The film talks about the suffering and struggle for justice of the camp inmates from Liplje, the only camp from which Bosniaks managed to liberate prisoners themselves during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As Huseinović announced on social media, the electricity went out 20 minutes after the start of the screening was announced, which raised suspicions that it was a deliberate move by Elektrodistribucija Zvornik. The premiere was attended by numerous locals, surviving camp inmates, victims' families, media representatives, as well as guests from other parts of BiH.

"We have indications that Elektrodistribucija Zvornik deliberately cut off the electricity," Huseinović stated.

"Although the victims' families and numerous guests felt offended, this story will not be stopped. Very soon, millions of people around the world will see it," he emphasized.

The incident caused outrage among those present, especially considering the symbolic importance of the place and time of the screening – held precisely in the village where, in 1992, Bosniaks managed to liberate more than 200 captured civilians from a makeshift camp on their own.

Locals reminded that such actions, if confirmed as intentional, represent a form of denial of the right to truth and dignified remembrance of the victims. Also, the question of institutional responsibility and the political background of the entire case arises.

So far, no official explanation has been received from Elektrodistribucija Zvornik regarding the cause of the power outage, and the premiere organizers announce that they will seek answers from the competent institutions.

Huseinović's film "Liplje – Return to Freedom" records personal testimonies of survivors, historical circumstances, and the importance of remembering one of the rare examples of successful resistance in the first months of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The film has already been announced for broadcast on several international platforms and television networks, which, as the author announces, will allow the truth about Liplje to reach millions of viewers worldwide.

The organizers announced that a new screening of the film will be organized soon at another location, and the complete documentary story will also be available through digital channels.
