(Patria) - On the plateau of Golo Brdo in Sarajevo, near the 'Wings of Freedom' monument, numerous officials and citizens gathered today to mark the 33rd anniversary of the battle for the liberation of Žuč hill from the aggressor.
The host of the event, the Mayor of Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality, Semir Efendić, thanked everyone for their effort in coming to Žuč in the sweltering heat.
When I was elected mayor in 2012, there was only talk and an idea about a memorial complex on Žuč hill, a few plaques by the road for our heroes – said Efendić.
He spoke about initiating activities to select a conceptual design for the creation of the Monument, while the Municipality simultaneously conducted activities for the purchase of land that was privately owned.
Today, we have completed two phases; last year the monument was realized, in the meantime the plateau was built, and the third phase will be the construction of a museum behind the 'Wings of Freedom' themselves, which will represent a whole – added Efendić.
He expressed selfless support from the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs of KS, led by Minister Omer Osmanović.
Not everyone can do this; many things need to align for you to get such a work of art that leaves no one indifferent. June 8th was one of the first victories of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina against aggression. It gave great momentum to everything that followed. Although this is a monument that would not exist without heroes, martyrs, and wounded fighters, it is not only for them, but perhaps even more for the present and future generations. There isn't a day since the monument was built that there aren't people here – said Efendić.
He reminded that a joint criminal enterprise was proven by two neighboring countries, with the help of politicians from BiH who say they are not Bosnians and do not want anything to do with BiH.
During the aggression, we had an embargo, and today we have an embargo on democracy. The Dayton Agreement was signed by three parties. The Bosnian side at the time of signing was a state, it had an army, police, anthem, all the institutions a state should have... And the others had nothing, and then we agreed to give them all of that, so we gave up the anthem, got this one to which we remain silent, gave up the flag, we lost the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we got joint Armed Forces. Through the Dayton system, intoxicated by peace, we slept through the fact that we lost all of this; today, someone else manages the police agencies that today will not arrest those sought by the court.
The state and institutions have been taken from us by those who fight against it; they are systematically and strategically destroying our country. If there is any message, it is that we should wake up. In this country, we are fighting with those who are doing everything in their power to destroy it. They receive a salary from it, and they destroy this country. I fear it will be a big problem for our country if we do not wake up. There is no reason not to confront the destroyers of this country in the future. A return to the Constitution of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina is becoming increasingly certain; if someone does not want to live as defined by the current Constitution, then the BiH Parliament should make a decision to return to the Constitution of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina – said Efendić, among other things, reports Hayat.
