Society of Journalists: We expect Our Party to apologize, media are not services of political parties

(Patria) - The Society of Journalists of BiH condemns the kind of pressure on journalists and media demonstrated by Our Party, by providing them with "instructions" on how reporting should be on the case of the arrest of their cadre, the Minister of Communal Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Bojan Bošnjak.

On this occasion, the Society of Journalists of BiH calls on the leadership of Our Party to issue a public apology.

"We know that this will not stop the practice of public or secret political pressure on journalists and media coming from party premises, both from the government and the opposition, but it can mean the beginning of a process for our politicians to learn that media, both public broadcasters and independent ones, are not and should not be a service of their political ideas, but a corrective to everything they might be doing wrong," the statement said.

The Society of Journalists of BiH reminds that the reputation of any party is also built on being consistent when it comes to possible criminal acts and treating and commenting on them equally when members of their political opponents are prosecuted.
