Today, the convoy with the coffins of genocide victims departs for Potočari

(Patria) - The coffins with the remains of genocide victims, which will find their final resting place in the valley of white tombstones in Potočari on July 11, will depart today, July 9, from JKP "Gradska groblja" Visoko, as in previous years, on their final journey to Potočari.

The departure from Visoko is scheduled for 10 AM, and the somber convoy will make brief stops in Ilijaš, Vogošća, Sarajevo at the Presidency of BiH at 12 PM, the Monument to the Murdered Children of Sarajevo, and Markale Market, and Srebrenica to pay tribute to the innocent victims of the genocide. The arrival of the coffins in Potočari is planned for 4:30 PM.

At the collective funeral on July 11 at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, the remains of 14 victims of the genocide committed in Srebrenica in the summer of 1995 will be buried.

The youngest victim to be buried this year is seventeen-year-old Beriz (Omer) Mujić, born in 1978 in Zvornik. He was killed in July 1995 in the Sućeska area near Bratunac, and his remains were exhumed in May 2023 from the municipality of Srebrenica. He will be buried next to his brother Hazim, who was buried in Potočari in 2013.

The oldest victim to be buried is Salić (Ibrahim) Hamed, born in 1927. He was 68 years old when he disappeared in the summer of 1995 in the Žepa area. His remains were exhumed at the Slap site in Žepa in May 2014.

This year, brothers Hasib and Ćamil Efendić will be buried together. They disappeared in the summer of 1995 in the Baljkovica area, and their remains were exhumed from different graves in the Srebrenica area, specifically from the Kula and Potočari sites, in 2011 and 2006. Hasib and Ćamil will find their final resting place this year next to their third brother, Edhem, who was buried in Potočari in 2007.

10. Salkić (Muharem) Ibrahim, born in 1935;
11. Bašić (Adem) Midhat, born in 1973;
12. Mustafić (Kadrija) Hajdin, born in 1959;
13. Mandžić (Arif) Latif, born in 1964;
14. Salić (Ibrahim) Hamed, born in 1927.
