Čović received a delegation from the USA: The Southern Gas Interconnection is also linked to the issue of state property

(Patria) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Dragan Čović held a meeting today with a delegation from the company BECHTEL, led by President for regional issues and corporate relations Justin Siberell, and the Global Energy Industry Team of the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) led by Chief Legal Counsel Sam Kwon.  

The meeting was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in BiH John Ginkel, and Member of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA Darijana Filipović.  

The meeting discussed the Southern Gas Interconnection project, as a key energy undertaking that requires urgent implementation for the purpose of energy diversification of BiH.   

On this occasion, a shared commitment was highlighted for the urgent ensuring of the project's implementation in the interest of BiH and the United States.

Čović stated that the importance of creating all necessary preconditions for the accelerated implementation of the Southern Gas Interconnection was emphasized, with a focus on resolving existing challenges regarding state property. 

Particular emphasis was also placed on opportunities for further strengthening of American investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina in other spheres. Potential further investments in the energy sector and other spheres, such as transport, were discussed for strengthening the overall progress and development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The US Embassy also commented on the held meetings:

"The United States Government and the private sector are working together to bring American expertise, innovation, and technical excellence to BiH's most important infrastructure projects," they stated.
