(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović attended the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the memory of mass executions in Prijedor and the Sana valley in 1992 at the Memorial Center "Kamičani". At the Memorial Center "Kamičani", a collective funeral prayer was held for two victims of Prijedor and the Sana valley, Ferid Sikirić and Izet Mešić, and the prayer was led by the Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Husein ef. Kavazović.
"A culture of remembrance must exist so that we preserve the truth about those killed in Prijedor and the Sana valley, as well as in other places. We will continue to testify about interrupted human lives, interrupted childhoods, and stolen hopes of the victims. It is our constant responsibility to transmit and preserve the facts about those brutally killed, but also to ensure a dignified life, truth, and justice for the surviving residents. We will not stop seeking punishment for those who committed war crimes. At the same time, we want to build a common life with all well-intentioned people who fight for peace and progress. Because we are not the same, we have both human, moral, and civilizational strength to condemn every crime. We owe respect to every innocent victim, and for every criminal we must seek the strictest punishment," said Bećirović.
Bećirović attended the opening and presentation of an exhibition of artifacts found in mass graves at the Memorial Center "Kamičani" in Kozarac. To date, the remains of killed residents of Prijedor have been found at 503 locations, of which 73 are mass graves.
