Bomb thrown at the house of Sarajevo resident Amel Bogučanin, key witness in the case against Zijad Blekić

Two days after being heard as a witness at SIPA regarding the attempted murder of the member of the Securities Commission of FBiH, Matej Živković, a bomb was thrown at the house of Sarajevo criminal Amel Bogučanin, Istraga.ba has learned.

Bogučanin, according to police agencies investigating the "Kapital" case, was the intermediary between the instigator of the murder and the individuals who attempted to kill the member of the Securities Commission, Matej Živković, who is one of the key witnesses against Zijad Blekić and other defendants in the "Profit" case. To better understand the whole story, we will present the facts chronologically.

It was December 9, 2020, when businessman Zijad Blekić, one of the first people in BiH to trade stocks, was arrested by order of the KS Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation in this case, codenamed "Profit," began in 2010 and is directed against several individuals and legal entities. Among the main suspects were businessmen Zijad Blekić, former president of the Securities Commission of FBiH Hasan Ćelam, and Blekić's associate Edin Dizdar.

In June 2021, the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo confirmed the indictment of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office against 19 individuals in the "Profit" case, namely: Zijad Blekić, Edin Dizdar, Armin Mulahusić, Daver Halilbegović, Hasan Ćelam, Muharem Bajrić, Ramiz Bibić, Naser Dačo, Jasmin Jusufranić, Smiljka Jusufranić, Branislav Petrović, Mirsad Imamović, Edin Muftić, Alen Murguz, Elma Mulahusić, Edina Halilbegović, Azra Blekić Aydogan, Hamdija Zvrko, Husein Zvrko.

They are charged with organized crime, abuse of position, money laundering, fraud in economic operations, etc.

They are accused of organizing a group from 2006 to 2014 that illegally acquired property benefits of approximately 30 million marks through fictitious stock purchases, capital market manipulation, and money withdrawal through fictitious legal transactions.
One of the key witnesses in the case against Zijad Blekić and other defendants in this case is Matej Živković, the still-current member of the Securities Commission of FBiH.

Nine months after the indictment against Blekić and others was confirmed, an assassination attempt was made on the key witness in this case.

Namely, on March 16, 2022, Matej Živković was seriously wounded in the Dobrinja neighborhood of Sarajevo, in front of the entrance to his building. The shooting was reported to the police at 4:35 PM. Although it all happened during the day, no one saw the attackers on Živković.
For a year and a half, SIPA members, under the supervision of the KS Prosecutor's Office, conducted an investigation into the wounding of Matej Živković. However, in the end, DNA was decisive, leading investigators directly to prison, where Jasmin Hasić from Sarajevo is serving a sentence for another criminal offense.

Hasić's DNA was found at the scene of the attack on Živković. Investigators, following further leads, found that Hasić had accomplices who drove him to the location where he shot Živković.

As Istraga.ba has learned, the police also managed to find the car used by the attackers in March 2021. After a significant portion of the evidence was collected, SIPA launched the "Kapital" operation on November 29 this year.

"The operational action 'Kapital' is being carried out to shed light on the criminal offense of murder under Article 166 in conjunction with the criminal offense of attempt under Article 28 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which occurred on February 15, 2022, and March 16, 2022, in Sarajevo, against Matej Živković, deputy chairman of the Securities Commission of FBiH, during which the said person was wounded by multiple bullets.

Searches are being conducted at eleven 11 locations, and during the day, suspect Jasmin Hasić will be questioned by SIPA police officers.

Furthermore, the questioning of several individuals as witnesses is planned. Searches are being conducted in cooperation with the Federal Police Administration.

During the work on the mentioned case, SIPA police officers cooperated with the Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Center for Forensic Examination, Expertise and Research of the Federal Police Administration, the Public Health Institution Institute for Forensic Medicine and the Criminalistic-Technical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS, and the Ministries of Internal Affairs of RS - PU East Sarajevo and Canton Sarajevo," stated SIPA.

One of the witnesses who was questioned the following day, i.e., on November 30, was Amel Bogučanin. This criminal, along with Jasmin Hasić, had previously been an accomplice in several criminal operations, including the preparation of the murder of a person nicknamed Jevrej.

Bogučanin and Hasić planned to plant a bomb under Jevrej's car. However, that plan was thwarted in one of SIPA's earlier operations. Hasić was arrested for robbery, and Bogučanin for money laundering and drug trafficking.

According to Istraga.ba, it was precisely this duo that was hired to liquidate Matej Živković. Bogučanin was the intermediary between the instigator of the murder and Jasmin Hasić, who shot Živković.

Neither of them, however, wanted to testify about this case. However, just 48 hours after being summoned to SIPA to testify about the preparation of Matej Živković's murder, a bomb was thrown at Amel Bogučanin's house.

Residents of Tandareva Street in the old part of Sarajevo were disturbed by a powerful detonation after unknown persons activated an explosive device.

As confirmed by the MUP of KS, the explosion occurred on Saturday, December 2, at 1:14 AM.

The statement from the MUP of KS specifies that the device was activated in front of the house and garage, owned by B.A., and was published on December 4.
